Anyone use this water filter? Just wondering if you can use this in stagnant water ex. ponds/ puddles etc. or does it have to be flowing water? Thanks Rob

Not quite the unit you have but the MSR I have advises not to use "stagnant" water without additional chemical treatment of the water. But then mine is a small hand held. They do make units that will treat standing water but they're too big for a day pack.

I also have the MSR. I have used it before to treat standind water and water from small seeps. Just checked the manual and all it says is not to use on water from tailing ponds or on water from near large agriculteral operations

I think maybe they are mostly meant for moving water. Guess you could double up with drops if you coudnt find moving water. The sheep/goat hunters should know what works the best, being up in the mtns most of the hunt.

A buddy has that seems like a good unit, pumps quicker than my MSR. We drank out of a puddle of moose piss in a bog with it, didnt get sick and wasnt funky tasting after. Same trip we basically used it for 8 days drinking out a of mud puddle on top of the mountain and it was good enough for me haha
