Well, I went on a four day hunt in 8-09 to try to fill my doe tag...first day out, by three PM, there she was! I had a hard time deciding which gun to carry (I have a 30-30 and Ruger .223). I thought for sure it would be the 30-30, but it was the .223 that took the doe! She was only about 70 yards off and luck for me it was a clear shot too! We chased her for about an hour up and down a fairly small but very treed-in hill. Almost gave up on her...thought she snuck away somehow, when my hunting partner said...maybe I'll go up top and try to push her out, just incase. Sure enough...she poked out long enough for me to get her in my sight. I knew i hit her, but wasn't sure if she went down...I climbed up to where she was and she had only moved enough to turn to the side and fall. WOW! WHAT A RUSH seeing her there, just waiting for me. My hunting partner figures she was about 200lb. I gutted her myself too! Believe it or not, it was pretty easy! That was Friday. Saturday & Sunday we barely saw any animals at all and Monday my partner got his doe! By the time we got back to the butcher, he was closed. they're still hanging at a friend's house up there and will go in Friday for cutting. We have some ppics waiting for developing, will try to post them once we get them back...I may need some help with posting them though. Oh yeah, by the way my new hat was on my head the whole time...as you'll see once I get the pics back!

Good for you Camo Girl, now you need a bit bigger stick so you won't need to do so much work finding the next one!!! Although I think the harder the work the better tasting the meat.!!

OK guys & gals...for all who congratulated me on getting my doe...here she is. Sorry it took SOOOOOO long for this. It's a distant memory now...(not really) but the meat is gone, that's for sure :frown: For all those who were in doubt, she really did exist:grin: A great big Thanks! to Marc for helping me out and posting the pic.

Congrats girl....I know how stoked I was when I got my first animal, it was a moose though...I've only ever got one deer, guess I gotta step things up a notch...might not shoot so many deer myself, but I've got a pretty good guiding record. Glad to hear about more girls hunting, keep it up!!!
