hey hunters , i was just told no more antlers alowed on the wall. my daughter wants the antlers from the deer i shot over the weekend. i want to keep the skull & antlers to gether. was wondering should i fleash it out and how do i get the brain material out. or should i freeze it and find a big ant pile and leave it there . i do have a high three by two i found in the woods a few years back and it looks very good. any other thoughts.

having the salt chuck do its thing will soften upithe bone too much

best to boil and pick

Remove what you can and boil the rest, let it dry for a couple of days till the bone dries then pick and scrape what you can, the bugs will tidy the little bits after that.

What I do is bury the head in the garden with the antlers sticking out....wrap the antlers in cloth then plastic bags so they don't get bleached and let it sit for a month or so then dig up and wash off...done this with several moose and it turns out great!!

i tried the bury method with my moose antlers last year but i buried the whole rack. needless to say next time i wont bury the antlers. but it did come out with no flesh on it. but now i have a case of soggy antler tips.
