I would say the deer has a wound from a predator or it got cut from a wire fence or other.

It looks like the blood is coming from its right front leg.

Ive noticed that quite a bit in the last few years, followed the trail and no sheds.... but I did find ticks in the snow at the end of the trail. Deer and moose have had really bad ticks lately!

If it was only one main spot with blood and the rest was a few drops here and there it could be that the deer was eating snow and the crystals in the snow will cause blood in the urine. Happens to all game and domestic animals when they eat snow rather than drink water.

If there is a crust of ice on the snow the deer sometimes cut up their shins and leave blood on the snow like this. That and the fact that it could be a myriad of other reasons that the animal is bleeding......
