When the shootings good, the shootings good. And you gotta take advantage of it.

With the forecast for alot of rain this morning on top of 6" of fresh wet snow last night it looked like it was going to be a wet one. So we only packed in the essentials silos and a shovel.

The wigeon are still nuts, they're flying around all day looking for food still.

Didnt think about it till after but I could of got some good shots while they were decoying. I got a ton of video of them coming in though.

This wigeon is only about 10 yards in front of the snow fort blind we made.

And here's the end, nice little snow fort blind that we made. It worked okay on the geese but once they went over or too high they'd pick you out. The wigeon didnt care, first time I've ever seen a 3 man limit of all wigeon.

Finally got around to it, and loaded up a little video of the hoard of wigeon decoying. Nothing like trying to pick out the drakes in a flock of 300 birds. :p

Yep, plenty of laughs on that hunt. Some how its hard not to laugh when you dont have to call or work the ducks in, they just keep coming. Makes up for those slow days I guess.

Do you ever shoot any european widgeon

This bird was shot two days before that hutn when the wigeon just showed up. Its definitely a young euro, or young hybrid euro/american wigeon.

It does have characteristics of both in colouring on body and wings but whos knows for sure. I'd say young euro but it has alot of green in the head.

There seems to be a few around I shot three this year and a half a dozen last year.
Kind of a interesting bird.
