I had the pleasure of another hunt with "870" on the 23rd. He had yet to bag some snows and I'd been watching a hotspot for them all week so out we went and set up both a duck spread and a wavie set. He manned the gun and I manned the camera. The geese and widgeons were pretty co-operative altho the mallards weren't much interested in our location. Here's the picture story. There were lots of wavies around as we went out.

Got both duck and goose sets in the water a cpl.-300 yds apart and found a comfy hide for 870.http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/2IMGP3428.jpg
Shot widgeons for a while then he got his 1st white goose on a pass shot.http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/4DSC_0130.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/3DSC_0102.jpg
Later in the afternoon, while sitting at the goose set, a big bunch of wavies came right in and landed on the bank at the duck set. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/1DSC_0128.jpg
It sure brought back memories of a keener youth as he hit the ice and started a crawl to ambush them. I graciously said "You go ahead, I'll stay here and get some pics."http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/7DSC_0122.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/8DSC_0123.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/6DSC_0124.jpg
This young fellow is a good shot and he had his limit of ducks and 8 wavies by well before sunset and, me not feeling like breaking everything down in the dark, we called it a day and loaded up. Walking around on the ice with a load of geese can be a bit dicey though..http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/9DSC_0149.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/10DSC_0153.jpg
And for the "look at me " pics....http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/11IMGP3430.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/13DSC_0161.jpghttp://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo126/branthunter/870s%201st%20wavies/12IMGP3440.jpg

Good on you Bob, getting the young guns out! And great shootin John! That brings some fond memories of 30 some years ago with my 12 Snow Goose decoys spending every chance i had out there. That spot you were in is the only place I knew back then, and it was MY spot. The best I could do for the first couple years was 3 birds, couldn't break that barrier. Until that fateful day when I got 5, wow, a full limit. Then I was hooked, well I already was but that clinched it, I was a Snow Goose pro, in my mind anyways. What kind of shape were the birds in, they sure look healthy. Keep up the good work! Kelly
