Went guiding on the Dempster highway for caribou again this year. The porcupine herd was a little bit early and started crossing the area around the 23rd of october. I guided 4 hunters to 4 nice caribou and also had the time in between hunts to get a decent bull myself. Saw about 20,000 caribou in about a week. My first hunter was an 89 year old from Saskatchewan. http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/qq293/mountaindog68/ChesterMjoslness08.jpg
Tough old bugger......and he has a museum in Saskatchewan with animals from around the world. The next mornig his son-in-law and I walked across the highway from camp and got him a nice 400+ B.C. bull

This left me with a day to hunt and after looking at about 500 to a 1000 different bulls I finally decided on this one, even though I knew it wouldn't make book I liked the tops and was running out of time

I also managed to get my video camera set up and get it all on video. First time I ever got one of my animals on video.
Next day and another hunter. It was a 18 hour drive for him to get to the Dempster and took all of about 3 hours to finish his hunt with a nice @400 B.&C. bull

After a few day's back in town I went up for 1 more hunt to guide. The caribou were thining out now and we only saw about 2000 in 2 days. 1st day we had to turn down a nice bull (@ 410ish B.&C.) because he was across a river that was about 2 feet deep with ice on both sides. The next day we came across a herd with about 20 bulls in it. None would make book but 4 or 5 of them were real nice. I asked which 1 he liked the best and he picked this 1. He liked it because of the big shovels and bez but it is a little weak in the tops and main beam, still a hell of a caribou though.
