i'd prefer hiking i just dont know where a good place is to invest time

i have driven around chilliwack lake looking for good slashes but all i found was a unpleasant road (not that it matters) where should i park the vehicle and hike?

There are two roads that go to the left off of the chilliwack lk rd once you have gone past the campsite enterance, Take the first road to the left,I am not sure of the name it is in the bend just before the bridge,Yes it is overgrown in there but the farther up you go it gets really nice in there. In the early season you can find bears in there.Try and hunt the south side that is where i have had the most luck.
Good luck,Mike

Are you talking about the campground on the south end of Chilliwack Lake?

No,the turn off is 3/4 of the way down the lake,it is the one before depot creek can not miss it there is only 2 roads that go to the left it is the first one.

I have been up there but I always went to the far end and hiked up on the ridge. I have seen a very big bear back there but never any deer. Just sign and the biggest bear crap ever. Also so track that looked like elk.

You might try the headwaters of Borden Ck. too. I saw a lot of bear sign in there in the blueberry patches a couple of years ago. Fred

Pupper, take Tamahi main to get up to Borden Ck.
Danny, that would have been about 4 years ago,I think. I didn't think it was that long ago but thinking back to other related things, that is about right. When I was up there last spring with Mike and the dogs I was reminded of that trip. Fred

If it is where I am thinking of it used to be really good for bear but the clearings are really overgrown now. Could be thinking of a different spot though.

The meadows I am thinking of were just past a cabin and covered in Blueberry and Saskatoons. They didn't look like they would go to forest any time soon. Fred
