Well the seasons over, no more big game down threads for a while. Im sure most of us stumbled upon some nice sheds in our fall travels. Post yer fall shed pics here, its too long to wait for spring! Heres a few of my good ones from the fall season.

These were just a few I found on the fraser river breaks while sheep hunting, I put this lamb eater to rest. I left this arrangement as is, so if anyone finds this bone pile while chasing sheep, it was me!

Heres a 79 incher I found locally while on a hike, the pic doesnt do it any justice but it has the biggest base of any shed Ive ever found!

And heres the last shed I found of 2008, a sweet 78 incher, he also had a broken point between G2 & G3. Found on very low ground while bow hunting Dec. 08. Brings my total 108 sheds for 2008, we got a foot of snow now so I guess Im done for the year!

Springer,
You got any close up pics of that funky dead head. Looks pretty wicked.

I had some good fall shed pics on my camera but my mom's computer went and ate the card. Lost everything, including pics of my dad's muley.

I'll be lucky if I find a shed this year in region 4, seems like its a lot easier to do in Region 8, I found 3 sheds in about 30 minutes without even looking hard in Region 8 while hunting this year but have yet to find one in Region 4, even with all the time I spend in the bush. Go figure???

Hey Bramb's, I've heard that alot of south, west koot deer have passports and spend the winter over the line??? Maybe theres some truth to that??? Maybee the Yanks get the sheds grown on our soil!

I've heard that the Christian Valley/Kettle River herd migrate as far south as Montana, Hell of a Journey if you ask me.

I hope the deer I hunt don't migrate like that, I would think the more rugged mountains of the WKootenay's would prevent that kind of migration. And you'd think you'd see some evidence of such a migration? But hell, I'm no expert. I'll keep searching till I find some good buck winterground, I've found places where the deer have trampled the area with beds and tracks but NO SHEDS, leading me to believe the bucks are wintering in different locations.

Brambles,
Need to get out there now and locate where the bucks are before they drop. They are now batchin' up again. The bucks typically don't hang out where the does do. If you find lots of winter sign in the spring, but no antlers, means you are lookin in the doe holes. Gotta locate those buck holes and you will be set for finding yourself some sheds.

I found a new spot in reg 3 this year with a ton of sheds in it. What are your guys thoughts on this spot during the late hunting season. Good spot, or to early?

Brambles that would be a very interesting fact to verify. Spoke to an elderly fellow who is a member of the rock Creek Fish and game club, he told me one a time years ago a huge snow fall hit the valley and a field near Rock Creek suddenly filled with 200-300 deer. He said it was quite the sight.

Myself and freinds have found a far number of sheds up the Christine Valley. Found a nice matching pair of 6 X 7 (could have been a 6) point Elk one fall as well up there.

Brambles, first your wrong on migration, they do not migrate to Montana,. I grew up in that area and there used to be a mountain up Christian Valley called Center Mt. The mulies would croos this big mt too there winter grounds, down the lower valley. Old timers educated me in the habits of these deer. And nothing has changed so far..Good Luck

I found a couple of punky moose sheds this fall and some chewed up deer sheds. Nothing worth packing out or taking a picture of.

I am going to head out this week and do some glassing to see what I can see for bucks. Usually way less guys hunting around Christmas time.

Prowler, pm me with this location and I will personally find out for ya!
I have found that these locations will usually have a few deer kicking around, but the bucks we seek just dont show up until after the season closes, especially with a late snowfall as we had this year.
I hunted all my best shed spots in the last few days of our bow season here (Dec. 5-10) and could hardly find a deer, in a normal year when the snow shows up early it might be better!

Brambl's like Dana stated, there are "doe zones" Usually low elevation spots where I can see 50 to 100 deer a day, might be the odd little buck kicking around. This is where I usually see the majority of early season shedders pounding. I made the same mistake my first year and came up with very little. Once ya discover the exact habitat that them big bucks like to winter in it becomes very easy. Usually much higher ground than I thought deer would ever hang in the winter!

Cmon guys, 4000 members here....no-one found any good ones this fall??? Did anyone get out of the truck this year???? :-D

did anyone ever find the pair of 6 point elk antlers in region 8 that my father in law stuck in a stump so we could have a good laugh about someone blasting the stump and forgot all about them after lunch... they were right on the side of the road. should have sent him back they were a little chewed but in nice shape

And where, exactly, would you call home?

None brought out to the truck but there is now a small set of 5x5 elk sheds hanging in the crotch of two poplars along the Kiskatinaw, and a small moose paddle shed on the Pine.
