It never ends...

Wolf/coyote hunting, trapping, ice fishing, etc. keep me happy until spring bear, followed by another month or so of fishing in the summer, and then it's time to go sheep hunting.

There's always something to do.

Predator hunting and don't forget, it's only 3 1/2 months to spring bear season! There's also handloading, cleaning guns and gear, fixing on the hunting truck and camper and planning next seasons hunts! Bummer about your doe though.

You could just put in for some over time and bank it for next year....

lloydster
12-12-2008, 02:13 PM
ya lotsa ot in winter... not. maybe i'll practise the bow at midnight with the neighbors cat retrieving arrows for me. although icefishing is a viable alternative for me. guess i could break it up by thinking about spring bear instead. too many 'i should have done this' this year! hate that!

oh man that would be a dream come true.
they don't let us bank OT, if they did I could take.... just calculated...min. 4 week off with pay.
2 weeks in Aug for sheep, 2 in sept for elk , without touching any vacation time.
......now I'm depressed.

Predator hunting.

I sometimes say to The Girl "I'll get to that once hunting season is over" and she says "IT'S NEVER OVER!! YOU HUNT AND SHOOT ALL YEAR!!"

And it's true. We are very fortunate in BC, to not have any closed parts of the year, except July. Aug 1 we can start hunting sheep, Aug 15 moose and elk, deer etc...and it continues until January, when we can hunt predators until the end of June, and bears open in April....Then the month of July comes and goes, and it's betteto be drinking beer in the heat, anyway...

And then do it all over again.:p

Words of the wise!! And July is when we get the LEH results and start the planning or not for the LEH season over a few cold ones.

except July.

Actually, in July, you can hunt blacktails in the Queen Charlotte Islands. That's lots of fun. Too bad it is so expensive to get over there.

Snowboarding December to June. July if there's a large snowpack. Drink in the sun in July and August and back to Hunting in September.
I'm glad I got into hunting because I used to get all depressed every fall because I couldn't snowboard. Now I really look forward to the Fall!

lots of coyotes need calling and then there is always cat's to be chased. Hunting season has just started ! And in my spare time i'll do a little ice fishing. Soon shed pickin then bear season. No time to go to work.

Wahooo, post season scouting is officially here and shed season is just around the corner. As soon as shed season is winding down, it's full on bear season. Then it is preseason scouting above treeline. Then it's deer season again. It is a year long passion for me.

Winter scouting and snowshoeing, looking forward to shed hunting and I am already making plans for next season. I really am looking forward to seeing some of the bucks again in 2009 that I took pictures of in the 2008 season. One buck in particular made me shake so bad and get the feeling "the fever" could set in if I didn't control myself. Gotta get a look at him again, thats for sure.

Couldn't agree more. Spent the past 2 weeks in region 3 (mostly the Big Bar area) and we heard wolves howling at least every 24 hrs. Fresh tracks everday and spooooky deer. I remember a meeting with our local bioligist a few years back and we were complaining about wolves, his reply was simple "if you really want to do something about it, the season is there, it's in place for a reason, get out and hunt them". I for one intend to try. Maybe we do need a wolf derby?!

whatta we gonna do now that the(sigh)seasons over

Getting all the things done that had to take a backseat during hunting season. In my case that would be concentrating on my seminars for next year, letting magazine editors know that I haven’t died and getting stuff done in and around the house.

When that is all done it is time to post-season scout, finding all the bucks I have missed this year and getting ready for spring turkey hunting season. It’s a never ending cycle.
