Im so proud of her!

hey everyone, we just got home from a region 5 deer hunt on the weekend and i couldnt wait to show off my girlfriends first buck. I took her to some of my best deer spots ive ever had so she wouldnt get bored or be discouraged (as she just passed her core and got her lic. last week). Well did that ever backfire, now shes so spoiled and she doesnt even realize it. The first morn of our first day were seeing lots of deer. we see a nice 2x3, he didnt give us the easy shot that she needed for her first one and i knew we could do better. 10 min later on the same hike i spot a big 3x4, im like thats a good buck, so we put the stalk on him as hes 300 yards and shes using a 308. as we close on 150 i see this huge 4x4 (I almost took him myself). The bucks got jittery and started moving into dense bush, she didnt feel comfortable with a shot. so i put her in a spot where i think i can push the bucks her way for a shot, and i go to do the push. as i enter where the bucks went in there they are just 20 yards in the bush. so i back up and go grab her we start hiking to were i saw them and here they come just walking with a doe. As we watched them moving through the brush i wisper to her (TAKE THE 4X4). As soon as the big guy stepped into a good window i whistled he stopped and she shot! dropped him in his tracks. i was shocked as she hadnt even much shooting practice. dont know who was more excited. We hunted suday and monday and he was the best buck we saw in 3 days. needless to say im very happy and proud of my sweetie.

The only problem with getting suck a big one as her first is she's going to have one hell of a time trying to beat it or even matching it.

he was the fattest deer ive ever seen, hes gutted in that pic even though it doesnt look like it. But shes got a long way to go to beat my big guy ruger. Ill score him tommorow and let you guys know.

What can be said ... great buck ... first :shock: that hurts ... that is one heck of a way to seal the deal to keeping her hunting from now on.

What's next? ... whitetails. I'll eat my hunting hat if you post her up with a 4x4 whitey this season.:-D

hey red i got it hangin at my buddies place (no scale) so we dont know for sure but i shot a huge buck in the same area last year that weighed 191 lbs after we trimmed every bit of fat off of it. this buck is the same for sure 170 to 190 on the hook. this was the fattest deer my partner or I have ever seen in our whole lives!

thanks farmer we had to dragem about 250 yards, without a doubt it was the toughest drag per yard ever even though it was fairly flat ground. just finished scoring him... 170 gross netted 166 3/8 (green score of course). :lol: :lol: :lol:
