first blacktail for 08.......

This is actaully the first b tail for me this yr...the second one in the previous thread was from a couple seasons ago. Note the 'young face' on this buck!..genetics are impressive in the ' hole'...also look at his bases...not mature yet...too damned exciting , hard to pass on...especially when its bin a yr since pulling the trigger!!!

Well , its kinda ' decieving' on the body size...take note how I'm behind the buck in the pic.....he wasnt ' that big' compared to a true BIG mature buck for the area...note his slender muzzle..no scars..not a real grey face yet..small bases..he probably weighed maybe 170lbs live ?...while I was cutting him up 2 more bucks walked in to me..one was a 3 point ,video'd him, the other a MONSTER , too slow on the gun-I was already busted....went back in a week later and video taped a beast !!....one day I'll get someone to load the vid on here...measured his horns/ear height on the TV...his rack was 1 1/2" outside his ears...OVER 3 times the height of his ears, probably 5 to 5 1/2 " bases, carried his weight all the way up..deep/wide muzzle..and probably weighed around 250-260 on the hoof!!!..all I could do to not pull the trigger on my last tag!!!!!...wayyyy cool buck...anyway...cant stand talkin about it anymore without a tag in my pocket and 2 days left here , lolol...good luck!

That's a trophy of a lifetime for most blacktail hunters. It sounds like you have a really good spot. Keep hunting it while it lasts!

Well.......the smaller buck was taken at a common place to hunt...tried to stay away from ' THE' spot for most of the season due to the local ' truck chasers'-worked good....the ' truck chasers' ( few of them on here)...really pounded the ' lesser spot' more and more ( and didnt get anything) wich kept ' THE' spot safe and sound..hehe...lol....shit ya gotta do to keep your spots safe eh?

Really though , these great genetics are spread from Pemby to horseshoe bay , not a doubt in my mind!...and as well Pemby to Harrison....its just the damned country is so nasty...makes for a pain in the butt to try and find the 'holes'......hence the ' truck chasers'..lolol...
