......the interior looking for mulies.

We decided a couple months back that since i was not guiding this year, had lots of holidays to burn, that we would take a trip back to the interior for some good old fashion mulie hunting. Not that ride around in your truck/quad and shoot a monster type of hunting:shock:, but the get out, burn shoe leather and maybe shoot a dink type of hunting.

We all picked places we would like to go or had gone in the past and put them in a hat and drew a place. The place we were headed to was...............yea like I am going to tell all you:shock::shock::tongue:. Lets just say that it is a place that not many hunt, at least from the amount of people we seen. I had never been there, never mind that I had never even heard of the place. No mention of it on here, or the BC record book. It IS a place that a lot of hunters drive by on their way to the much more popular "deer behind every tree" places that are so soundly beaten on this site.

Well, I can understand why very few people hunt it. For 5 days of hunting we saw ~80 deer between the three of us. I personally saw 40 deer, of which 12 were bucks, including two shooters, of which I missed one of them:-o:cry:. It was the first time I heard a buck grunting in the pursuit of a doe. It was not what you hear on TV!!!!!!

It was a good hunt as none of us had been there before and we went off maps from the forest company and Google Earth.

Some Picts

Sun sets were pretty cool

On the area where I missed the one and saw the other big buck, the old skidder trail was littered with these

I really liked this type of hunting, as it was as much fun exploring it as it was hunting it.

The success was measured on the fun factor and not on the killing factor.

Will we go back again next year?????? Who knows, as there is other places to explore and leave some shoe leather in.

Cheers

Sound like a good time! You got to get out and discover a new place rather than drive through a new place. Looks like some of it might have been a little tricky to stillhunt also.

Great pics !

Thats what I have done. Alot of walking in the bush. You're right, its very enjoyable.

That one slope is sure steep. Good thing you didn't drop a Buck there and have to drag it all the way up:frown:
