Felt some blacktail enthusiasts might want to have a look at this guy. Called him in to 14 yrds..shot him in the heart with a 243..he dropped maybe 300 yrds from last yrs 151" buck....so comes a close to '08 with two blackies , first being a nice 5X4 but real young.....
I cant find Gatehouse to post the pics ,( I dont know how , actually took me a bit to figure out how to post a new thread) he must be out chasing someones 'spot' in Squamish..hahaha....I'll email him the pics now , I'm sure he will post them soon.
This old buck had 2 ' things' on his bottom gum that looked like 2 teeth...nothing left in there...fresh scars on his body , no fat , not much left in 'bulk' at all. Can only imagine what he ' was' in prime??...anyway....I feel this buck is SUPER COOL and am very lucky to be the one he met him en route ' out'......enjoy.
( he's a 6X5..)

The buck in the snow pic is actually from 2 seasons ago..same spot....they both had a 'sticker' coming from the same place on the back R fork....as well the 141" buck had totally similar horn details as the 151" buck from last yr.....maybe blacktails dont venture too far from home??

The rifle in the pic is a rem 700 in 300 ultra......the 243 is a model 700 lefty as well .....actually feels like packing around a pellet gun after lugging the 300ultra mag around up north for a couple months.

If I nailed the buck I was after, a new mount would be in order for sure!!...this old boy will get nailed on the wall!!

Congratulations on a pair of fine deer. Harvesting an old animal gives me mixed emotions running from elation thru to sadness at harvesting what must have been a very elusive deer.
Do you have jaw ageing facilities in BC?

Very nice deer ,you probably did him a favor getting him this year ,he won't have to worry about getting through this winters harsh weather.

At least he has passed his jean pool on over the years.

Congrats to you on connecting once again on a very nice buck http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif.
