Sorry long post, but I'm a long time viewer first time poster, welcome to the Moose is Loose Lodge. Really enjoy all your posts and I'm excited to join the ranks. Not that the Lodge was just formed, been on the road since 28 years ago, Forest Grove was our prime spot but now we tend to move like gypsies.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4357.jpg

Now that camp is set-up, yes thats something that youve never seen, roof slides off on garage door tracking and with the wall tent thing we have a nice warm stove going and about to bring on another hunting season.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4351.jpg

Just resting up because up in Northern B.C. I know were dealing with everything big.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4367.jpg

After a couple of days scouting, I could not believe the moose activitiy, one morning in 2 hours I called in five different moose until this guy came to visit, nice moose and the work begins.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4360.jpg

Work is because in the lower B.C. regions your able to hang your meat and relax, not when you have Mr. Fluffy looking for dinner.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4394.jpg

Kept hunting hard after the first moose, had a few sightings of a large moose but couldn't get a good shot on him, managed to get him late in the trip, called him out of his bed, 58 inch spread, and yeah I'm making new quad tires out of him for next year.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/492.jpg

Great trip, more moose than we could imagine, now on to the hunt that everyone gets pumped for, the RUT of the Bucks, and the full moon is always a good start.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4513.jpg

Arrived, set up camp and the weather is about to change. First couple of days chased some three points around, few does and then the third morning I started it off, one lone doe, one lone grunt and one deceased buck.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/PB090672.jpg

Next day had a converse with my son 4point&over and mentioned that he should maybe keep pounding those does, I'm sure there is more bucks. Heard a quad come down into camp but its early, sure enoughRusty had a nice buck.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4479-2.jpg

Rusty pulling in with the buck was sweet, except the morning had been pretty exciting down the road, my other little hunting buddy had this to deal with.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/PB100689.jpg

Wow what a deer, must have run out of bungies for the quad ride home.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/PB100701.jpg

Group shot long weekend, Rusty is taking the meat home, yes we had a group moose but we weren't real serious because of our earlier hunt. To much work for me I told the camp, special day, showers.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4487-1.jpg

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4491-1.jpg

Glad I showered up, if your wondering, 12 volt bilge pump from a heated tub of water and the boys are happy. Little did I know that another shower would be on the way, next morning, radio call, buck down, need some help, why do they need me, there was Bruce and Ziggy hunting together, left my moose hunting and arrived to see this hog.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4495-1.jpg

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4499-1.jpg

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4505-1.jpg

Your only half a man without enough bungies! Nice work Ziggy. Check out the size of this thing beside Ziggy, assume it's around 300+ on the hoof.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4508-2.jpg

And if you're wondering, that blood over his eye is from the scope...nothing better for your first buck then a wallhanger and a scar to tell the story. Chicks dig scars.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj147/hunterguy_2008/IMG_4523-1.jpg

Yes it was a great season, a few observations, the buck that Bruce got was only .2 miles from Ziggy's buck. Bruce's deer had multiple wounds around his but, that night we wondered what buck would do that to a 28 inch spread buck. Well were assuming it was Ziggy's buck, and oh yeah my deer had a bullet we dug out of its back leg from last year. Well thats a season and hopefully all of your hunts were as enjoyable as the Moose is Looses. Merry Xmas.

Nice setup, thats the way to hunt!

I took a buddy of mine to the range to try out my '06 once, he'd never shot a rifle before. I told him to hold the gun tight and stay close to the scope, but not too close.. He pulled the trigger and the scope jumped back at him and left him with a beautiful shiner (surprised it didn't bleed!). He kinda did a weird backwards gimp impression when the scope bit him and looked around sheepishly to see if anyone seen him; we were all laughing pretty good by then! Thats one of my favourite memories range shooting. LR

Nice pix too. I liked that sunset one so much I took the liberty of using it for a wallpaper on my computer - if you don't mind of course! It really spoke to me.

Great post, first class!

That's about as good as it can get, I suppose after 28 years of those sorts of adventures you must have an awful pile of good memories to reflect back on. The icing on the cake must be to have your son there, too.

May your Lodge live on and on....

Thanks for the post.

Hunterguy
12-02-2008, 11:35 AM
Not a chance sea level on anyone being chained to the stove. Firegirl.270 gets all camoed up and some mornings she is the first out on her quad and some evenings the last to come back to the Lodge. If I was going to chain anyone to the stove than it would be my son Rusty, excellent griller.

I would like to know what those mulies score, big and small. It would be nice to have them all in one picture with their comparitive scores for field scoring lessons.

Awesome hunt! The smallest Mulie would be my biggest by double! One day me and my partners will have a hunt like that!
