good weekend times 2

Hi all. Story one goes like this. Got out this weekend with my bro in law, we use to hunt quite a bit together but now not so much. it's been 2 years since we deer hunted together. I figured i would take him out to one of my fav spots for deer. First morning he picks a mountain and i pick a mountain, meet back for lunch. I drive about half way up the mountain, and spot something moving up it...it's a doe watch her for about a minute as she works her way up to a shelf about half way up. I didn't see any other deer with her, thought that was a bit odd. I decided i will hike around the back side of that hill she was headed up to see if i could cut her off and have a better look at any other deer that might be with her. Good idea.... as i got to the top I got beetween 2 trees, look down and spot 3 more does with her total of 4 now grazing on that shelf that she was on . I watched them for about 5 mins. and figured the buck that should be with them was probably already taken. I saw something move in the trees about 50 yards above them, it's a buck i didn't need binos to see he had 4 on one side, he was in a cluster of trees right at the top of the mountain. He was 90 yards from me and staring right at me. he turned broadside after about a 2 minute staredown one through the boiler and that was it for him . Story 2 The next morning since i was tagged out. I thought i would help my bro in law to get his buck. So we headed to a hill i had scouted earlier in the season. I knew there was at least one good buck up there. so we hiked up to the top of the hill and started glassing didn't see much except for a tonne of sign up there. so we decided to head back down for lunch and to reevaluate for the afternoon. We got about half way down when i noticed some movement in the timber about 200 yards away, sure enough it was a doe but beside her behind a tree was a beauty of a buck. Put up the binos and there was no doubt he had 4 . bro in law got a rest on a tree and took the shot first time 200 yarder right through the heart. buck went about a hundred yards and then keeled over. 4 hours and some sore shoulders to get him out......I have pictures but i need someone to help me pos them.....thanks brks.

What I am getting at is I hunted my ass off for the last 4 days and came up with nothing http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif ,I'm even headed out again this morning for a hunt.

Then when I see the two deer you two got its hard to take.

Anyways you got two very nice mule deer there ,that one your buddy got I hope he is getting a head mount on it ,it is a nice set of antlers on it.

thanks for posting the picks steeleco. Hunter 1947, i am one of those people that beleive you have to be lucky to be good. Don't get me wrong you have to do your homework as well but i also think we got a little bit of luck this weekend. Get out there and get a big one
