well the pics worked sort of so I'll tell the story.
Still hunted in the thick bush for 4 hours. I did a rattling settup for an hour with no luck ..until the wind shifted and I heard the familiar wheezing of a deer behind me but didint get a look at it. So I kept moving slowly because the ground was noisy. As I stepped onto a moss covered trail I heard a noise on the opposite side about 8 feet away and a doe poked her head out of the thicket and looked at me. I instantly sat down as she soun and ran about 15 feet into the bush. I could get slight glimpses of her sort of milling around nervously so I let out a quiet grunt from my grunt tube. She calmed down and started to walk broadside from me. At that moment I saw more movement from where she had been and this guy sticks his head out like she did ...8 feet away. He spins and does exactly what she did.
I let out another grunt and popped open the scope covers. I had a small window to poke a bullet through the branches and twigs and he was headed for it slowly walking and looking at me. As I looke through the scope all I see is fog and moisture. So I hold on the opening while struggling to wipe the scope clean. As he steps in all I can see is a bit of antler through the foggy scope and he stopped dead center for me. So I adjusted my aim accordingly to hit him behind the shoulder ( I hoped) and squeezed.
He spun and dissapeared hobbling into the bush. I knew he was hit good and because the ground had patches of melting snow and there was very little blood to follow I went in without waiting because I knew I couldnt track him if he was laying dead. Sure enough, 100 yards in I pushed himout of his bed and finished him with a neck shot.
So as this was only my fifth time out hunting this year I was very happy and lucky to have him and the big mulie I posted last month ( as well as a spike meat buck I got at the first of the season).
