Sort of. As my Doctor said my knee was a no go for our annual fly in. My partner and I spent 10 days in at Bonaparte Lake (East end) hunting and fishing. I got to Kamloops and went to see my dad. I had to put him in the hospital. As a result I've been here for 5 days. The good news is they let him out this morning. He's OK for now. (Has many health issues)
We saw piles of deer and small bucks. One slash had 30 (women and children) The next slash had 7. We liked the look of it so we decided to go for a walk the next morning.
We were late getting away the next morning (slept in). As we drove up into the top of the slash my partner spotted a deer. It turned out to be a small 4 x 5. We never did get our walk in that morning. Too much work looking after the buck. I looked around but did not find anything I wanted to put my tag on. We also saw 6 bull moose and a couple of bears. Th biggest moose was 36 incher. and the smallest was a 3 pt http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/frown.gif
We saw 10 grouse and got 3. We're getting old and slow I guess.
We fished Bonaparte lake pretty hard as well. Caught and released lots. We did bring 12 home. My best was a 6 3/4 pound lunker....what a fight.
We also tried out something different this year. We went Pheasant hunting. There is an outfit that advertises in the Regs. We decided to give it a whirl. What a blast. The property we hunted is pretty thick so I only went 3/5. We had a guy with a dog. Was that an awesome sight to see the dog working. Turns out he knows a number of the guys I know from Kamloops. Butcher, I think he was sitting at your table at the fundraiser. His name is Sean and he works for fisheries. Good guy. Great dog.Cooked one of them up that night. Pheasant in Dijon sauce. OMG http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/eek.gif was it good. I can't wait to do it again.
