We had planned to hunt for 3 days. We left Princeton at 4 am for our first morning hunt. 3 inches of fresh snow overnight. Arrived in our area just before 7am. Dragger tracks everywhere! Drove up to a spot hunted before. Spotted a 4pt whitey, bang!, deer drops. Partner says "hold it there's another one, a big one". bang!, missed! Deer runs away and he chases after it. One quick shot in timber and the 5x7 is down! First shot was'nt a miss as we discover antler shot and broke off after deer died and fell. Happy but a little disappointed as we didn't get to hunt in the prime snow conditions. Deer are rutting heavily!

Now that's what I call hunting. The kid and I did that only once some years ago. I seem to recall about half an hour and we were gutting already.

Congratulations!
