I was grilling salmon steaks tonight and it reminded me of our fishing trip this summer on the Skeena.
Thought I'd share some pics...

My wife hooked into her first spring ever and it weighed in at 40 lbs... beginners luck! (and excellent coaching ha ha) After a half hour fight she could barely pick it up for the picture.

We had an awesome time - lots of fish! My dad got the two nicest of the trip. 47 lbs...

and 53 lbs... We wanted to release this one (a little bit dirty) but was bleeding too bad for a proper release.

My watchstrap is still stained "double hot red" from that trip!! I'll have to dig around on the ol' PC and find a few pics to post from our time out on the water...

I think one of my highlights from that trip was seeing SKYLINE somehow getting a mouth full of fish slime, and then chumming the water with his lunch . I could barely crawl off the floor of the boat after that laugh...looking forward to next year boys!!

Fished the Skeena once, years back. Had great times there. Would love to go try my luck again one day.

Why did you have to show everyone the photo of my biggest fish? Now everyone will know what the secret bait was for trophy bullheads...

Good memories - I love the fish slime in the mouth story. Classic!

I finally broke 40 this year but it wasn't with the rod and a nooky! Still waiting for the big one.

What methods were you guys using?

mountainman
11-30-2008, 03:05 PM
I would say they were using jet divers and spin n glos tipped with roe. Me and Steve were bar fishing off shore as my kicker hadn't arrived! Next time I will have the kicker and be using the jet diver method.

We were using jet divers with plugs, but the most effective way was "back bouncing" roe

TSW

We were just using hooks and worms

Were you guys anchored and back bouncing? Not sure if you could back bounce and work the boat with the kicker.

ThinAir

We never anchored when back bouncing... use the kicker to keep the bow facing up steam and slowy slip down through the "hole".
A steady bounce and hammer time:smile:
