We left the lowermainland on Wednesday, October 29 and headed for our favorite camping spot on the lake. We arrive around 12:30am, set up camp and hit the sack. We hunted hard on Thursday, seeing 10 deer. One was a buck my budy saw but was unable to get a chance at it. Friday morning we got up at 5:00am had breakfast, made our lunches and headed for our morning hunting spots. We checked in on the radios with one another around 10:00 and neither of us had seen anything. After hunting a couple of more hours I was up in slash around 5000 feet when I heard a shot in the distance from the direction I figured my friend should have been. Ten minutes passed when he called on the radio telling me he had bagged his first buck ever. Twenty minutes on the quad and I arrived in the slash where he had dropped him. We hauled the buck down to the quads, gutted and loaded him and headed for camp to get on with the skinning.http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/Hunting_November_2_2008_B.jpg
The next morning we got up around 4:30 had a hot breakfast and talked about where we were going to hunt for the morning. We decided to hunt the area where Mike had seen the buck on our first day. We arrived to the area just as it was getting light. He told me where he had seen the buck 2 days before and I headed that way. A few minutes later I was standing in the area that I figured he had seen the buck and started glassing the hillside with my binoculars. I put them down and looked around the hillside some more when I suddenly saw a nice buck standing in the middle of the slash I had just been glassing. After watching him for another 5 minutes I confirmed that he was a 4 point and decided to make my shot. He was 140 yards (range finder info after the shot) he went down the second I shot, got back up, made 3 to 4 steps and then down for good. I called Mike on the radio and confirmed with him we had buck number two, as he had obviously heard the shot.

We got him loaded on the quad after dressing and headed back to camp. Back home on Sunday and pretty pleased with a succesful trip.

Not the deer but,,,,, I *think* I recognise this Dude. IIRC, I got he and his son onto some Grouse in the area. It was the boys 1st bird. This was just a day or two after me gettin' mine in the opening week.

Nice deer boyz. High 5
