Some of you who are totally against road hunting may not appreciate this thred....but i'll post it anyways.
Well i convinced my dad to come with me for a 4 day hunt in Princeton and a 3 day hunt in the EK.My dad's knees are shot so basically he's a cripple(goes for knee replacement in Jan),so he can't walk more than 50 yds before he has to sit down to rest his knees.
So i knew this was going to be a road hunting trip from the get go , but i really wanted my dad to hunt in the east koots at least once, cause i love it there.
Well, all we saw in Princeton was some small bucks and (2) 3pt mulies. My 2 other buddies bagged a 4x4 and a 4x5 mulie.
The 4 of us headed to the EK.We arrived about an hr before dark ,so my dad and i dug out the rifles to start heading up the logging road we went about 2 km before i spotted a huge WT buck he was a beauty at least a 5pt , but when i tried to sneak up on him through the trees he bolted and was gone.
The next day we headed up to my favourite mulie hole and we spotted the 5x5 mulie ,i ranged him at 350yds but i wasn't comfortable with that shot,he started up the bank , but walking, so i figured i would close the distance , i snuck up to a little burm and layed down and ranged him at 250yds, once i had him in my scope i let it rip right behind the front shoulder and it jumped and was down, actually he fell about 25yds right into the ditch, my dad yelled great shot.Perfect!
The next morning we went whitey hunting and i spotted a buck in the pine trees, my dad went one way and i went the other.I lined up on the buck but couldn't see him clearly , then i heard a shot go, i thought good dad got the shot , but i looked and he was standing broadside to me ,so i let one go behind his front shoulder, i knew i hit him.I asked dad where he was aiming and he said the only shot he had was a head shot at 75yds.Well we found some hair and then some blood we tracked him and he went about 150 yds. Dad had given him a hair cut ,didn't even break the skin, but i had hit him where i aimed , so my biggest whitey to date.
The next morning we went dirrectly to a good whitey spot i knew by some slash, within 15 mins of hunting , my dad had a gift of a nice 4x4 whitey , his first and about 25 yds off the road ,perfect head shot ( he likes head shots cause they drop if you hit it)I personally have never taken a head shot, i guess i'm not that confident in my shooting abilities.
After loading the deer we headed mulie hunting to try to get one for my dad, we went to the spot i shot mine and my dad spotted a big mulie. We tried to count the tines, but there was blowing snow and foggy.I saw only 3 on one side but couldn't get a count on the other ,before it took off into the thick shit.It sure had long brows about 4" and deep forks, so maybe he'll be there next year.It was literally a blast to hunt with my dad again, its been a long time.I think he'll want to go again next year!

By the look of the meat damage, I'd say your loads are just a tad hot. You may want to back off a couple of grains:shock:.

Nice haul!!

just cause the regs call a 4pt with brows a 4pt ,doesn't mean its not a 5pt.:p

Good for you ! Awesome to be able to hunt with your dad, mine could not go at 84 this yr, some problems that come with age........too bad this was our best yr hunting that i could recall, getting 5 moose and a deer, 5 guys!
