HBC member "Anytail" and I spent the long weekend at our annual deer hunt in region 5. Anytail has come close a few times the past few years, and passed up some smaller bucks. He connected with a nice 4 point on Monday morning.

We had just met up and were walking back through a large cut when he spotted this buck sneaking along the edge of the timber. As I kept an eye on the buck through the binos, an impressive 213 yard offhand shot planted this buck in his tracks with a 150 grain Scirocco Bonded from his 7mm RM.

Now that he has a great region 5 buck under his belt, Anytail says "I'll be back!"

FD - what's this walking b.s.? Yous steering arm giving you grief? That why Anytail shot him?

That IS an impressive buck - great shooting.

Yes, I admit it - Anytail and I walked for miles the past 4 days! I need to send a protest letter to the forest companies in the area to road the hell out of the area we hunt! :-P:redface:;-)

The drag was ranged at 195 yards - I "made" Anytail drag it by himself until we reached the same spot where my 2006 buck fell, then I gave him a hand. He's a fast learner (and one hell of a good shot!)!

That's the second excellent shot I've watched him make in the past two years. Last year he dumped a nice meat buck at 300+ with a double lunger. I'm beginning to think it ain't just luck!

I had a friend that could make some great off-hand shots but give him a rest or bipod and he couldn't hit squat!!??:?
Trained in the US millitary and was top shooter in his division.

I never did get my lesson before he move back south.:?

Good shooting there "Arnie"!
