Moose Rut

Leaving in a few days to try to fill my LEH in 6-8. Anyone know if the moose are rutting up that way yet? I saw the forcast is for cool nights. ( -3 or so up where we'll be) Hopefully that'll get them moving anyway. Did anyone get up to that area to hunt the early draw?

Man, I'm getting anxious. I woke up last night dreaming of moose. :confused:

Not so good although I think we had fun. The first 2 days we saw zero moose. The 3rd day the temp had dropped to below zero overnight and that morning we saw 3 cows, 1 calf, and 2 bulls across the lake with no access except for a 60 min walk around it. We were pretty stoked as it appeared they wer finally moving....then it clouded over and started to blow and rain!!!!!:-( We never saw another moose until the morning we left and that was a cow/calf that we jumped deep in the bush while they were in transition to their hiding place. In retrospect, if we had known about the weather change later that day, we woukld have gone after that bull across the lake.

We're heading out tuesday-but have to find an immature.We had a ''shared''bull tag last year and only saw cows-with my luck we'll see a nice 3 year old bull-and have to just look at him!!ah,well, such is life...

Moose rut has started. Called in a bull last weekend and two bulls last night. (40 incher and a small 3x5)
