Region 5 LEH Bull Sucess

On the 4th night of my 10 day trip we had just finished hunting some slashs and swamps. On our way out just at dark my dad spots this cow moose, she was slowly making her way out to the middle of the slash. At the bushline I could see another moose down in a ravine, at first I thought it was a calf. Then my dad pointed out that the hair on the rump of the cow was all pushed forward(there was also a big tuft of hair missing on her rump, looked like a bite mark :shock: ) She kept moving farther and farther out into the logging slash, all the while letting out soft grunts. Well he finally came walkin out of the ravine, heading in her direction. He stopped and gave me a 140 yard broadside shot, I put the crosshairs right below his spine and touched the trigger on my .338 Win Mag. He instantly fell out of my scope.

I only seen one muley I was interested in and he vacated the area in a hurry. My dad took a 4X5 whitetail on the last day, was neat being that we had never seen a whitetail buck in this area before. It was an awesome trip, and were goin back up for the deer rut at the end of october.

Thanks guys, The whitetail wasn't a big animal, 100lbs on the hooks. Had a nice little basket rack with a spit browtine on one side. My brother and stepfather came up for that last 2 days of the hunt, ( My dad and stepfather get along really well, I know.... wierd ) And my stepdad connected on a decent bodied spike mulie on the last day.

Nice bull...I am unable to use my bull draw LEH for 5-12 due to unforseen circumstances...Will be mulie hunting off the Coq 97-c for 8 days starting Friday ,and looking for immature bulls too.....Hope my hunt is as good as yours..nice job....

It was funny but I thought you had made the connection when I showed your dad that 338-06 cartridge when he asked Jill and I what we were shooting. LoL
