We want to book some time in the Sooke area this July or Aug.
My kids just want fish, anything, pinks coho, they've never really had the patience for the springs.
So would late July, or mid Aug be better for the runs ?

Thanks,
TBark

Pinks, the later in August the better. Coho, much later than that. Springs will be there before, during and after the time you will be there.
If you target springs you'll likely be into more action than you would be just targeting pinks, Late July/Aug is prime time for springs.
Personally I wouldnt come from Sask to fish a bunch of 6lb pinks.

I would make that trip for sure! I grew up in Calgary and always dreamed of fishing for Salmon. I didn't know anyone out here to take me out and my luck had it that I showed up here on an odd year (pink year). Man did I have a blast catching pinks on every cast with my 6' spinning rod and a lure. Ya... now that I've lived here for 5 years I take pinks and salmon for granted, but do it especially for the kids!!! Later the better for pinks.

Thanks for the replies.
I meant by "book" time, I meant book time off of work.
We don't need a guide or charter,
We will be on a friends boat for a week - 10 days,
Nothing special, 19 ft, good enough for just out of Sooke.
Looks like I'll book Aug 8 - 18th.
Thanks again folks,
