My cousin and I thought we were gonna try our best shot at coastal "road hunting" theory. After about 1 hour of pounding every road in sight at 5km/h we scouted a spot for a walkabout. After turning around at the end of the road we headed back to the ridge top we scouted earlier. as i pulled to the edge of the FSR, i spotted a bedded doe, and standing doe, and a large dark bodied animal in the timber. After turning down the country music and a quick glass thru my dirty window with my wal-mart specials,(they were on sale, theyre real nice) i established the large dark bodied deer was male, and had some solid mass. After scrambling thru the tim hortons tim-bits, my cousin finally found his clip and chambered a single 147 gr. 308 bullet in the chamber. A quick establishment that he was a legal shooter, cuz hammered him one right behind the front shoulder http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/eek.gif (he later told me he shot him right where he was F'n aimin!!) we let the deer rest for exactly 30 minutes before proceeding quietly thru the cut block and to the edge of the timber, we spotted his deer laid out in some brush! What a fine specimen he was a 4x5, with great genetics!! http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/eek.gif the work now begins and we drug him down to the road and gutted the deer with my brand new "buck knife" that i bought off ebay! what a great tool for the job, i suggest you all get one http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/cool.gif we loaded our fine piece of meat into the back of the station wagon and headed back to the hwy. We skinned the deer out and put him in the freezer. We washed up and headed to the local watering hole for lunch. We ran into a nice fellow on our way out the door who had just spotted a nice deer up the road hwy!! http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/confused.gif Could it really be? is there a chance we were gonna get two deer in one day? We drove to the general area he spoke of but seen nothing. I decided to take a road that holds many deer. I crept in the first road, slowly txting my brother at the same time, i lifted my head just in time to see 4 does bouncing down the road and a large muley buck!! by this time he was 250yards and counting! I quickly hopped outta the truck and chambered a shell in my browning 30-06 and dialed y scope to 9 power. I found a good solid rest off the edge of my door and squeezed on the top of his back. SMACK!!! i lifted my head quickly to still see a standing buck! i rushed to the next brush pile and hammered some more lead into him, this time placed right in the lungs, as he stumbled away with his does he stopped one more time and stared, for what seemed like 4 minutes, by this time i forgot the safety lock was on, and pulled another time to no avail. http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/images/smilies/mad.gif i quickly slid the saftey off and hammered him for the 3rd time! this time he flopped and boy was i glad he did, cuz i was outta shells!!!(should have bought more when i was at wal-mart) relieved i walked up to my downed buck to see another 4x5 with mass!!! HOLY PISS! DOUBLE HEADER!!!!!
