whipsaw for youth hunt?

I have just returned tonight from a Placer Mountain day trip not 15K? from Whipsaw. Saw 14 does and 2 2pts. Only saw deer in the logging slashes right next to the alpine. I felt that they were still as high as they could be. Found then mostly in the extremely clearcut areas. Where we were there was a lot of active slash burning piles with the flames 5 meters high.

Had one two point buck sense that something was amiss and come from 200 yards and circle us hidden near a stump till he was within 7 yards. Then of course he barked and broded. Was wishing that I was carrying my bow.

the whipsaw gets alot of traffic but alot of deer come out of there every year to.best to get out of the truck and walk to the back of some of the really big cuts.
