Just wondering if anyone ever tried to use 140gr accubond or Tipped TSX / MRX on a moose or elk before? Most of the ones I read have used 160gr or higher but not a 140gr. Would it be sufficient if used with 7mm short magnum? I heared these bullets were designed for a deeper penetration and delayed expansion so then my guess is, it's capable!!???

I shot my elk this year with a 140gn regular TSX out of my .270.

One shot......lung, heart, and shoulder(small piece) soup. Complete pass through.
Dead.:|

Should have used a fireball:tongue:.

Shot a bull moose with my 280 140grain and he dropped dead in his tracks. One shot through the heart.

My Dad has taken several using a 270 130grain.

That's nice to hear, i love shooting flatter and faster bullets. I also read it is better to use one type of bullet for all around use so you know where it goes every time. thanks for the infos gentlemen!!!

I shoot all my moose with 150gr 7MMRM , and they go down quick and hard .. So I cannot see any problems with the 140gr ... Like either way if you hit the Vitals the Animal wont know what grain your shooting anyways

okay, that's funny, haha! but i just want to make sure the animal doesn't run away laughing for a mile before it drop dead. we've hearing everyone seeing bulls got shot laying around and not retrieved, maybe this is one of the reasons. i don't wanna contribute to this growing problem.

The x-bullets are designed for both rapid expansion and deep penetration.

I have taken a couple of moose with 140accubonds and they have worked flawlessly.

I took my caribou last year with 140 tsx and they too work well. I find the accubonds group a little better for me. For me the accubonds are a better buy.

Either should be okay. Try both to see how they shoot and then decide.
