Quick Decision

Well I managed to fill my Muley tag this year. After a solid morning hunt waiting for a buck my partner and I have called the "Vader" buck, we found this guy at the bottom of a cable block. It was getting late and I had to make a quick decision on him before he walked off into the timber and the rest is history. He is not as big as I was hoping for, but I only had 4 more days left in the season.

The pics are distorted because of the steam coming off my partner, while he was taking the pics.

He is not as big as I was hoping for, but I only had 4 more days left in the season.But you did have 4 days left. You sold out. Tough to get a bigger one now. :tongue:

There would be no quick decision if I saw this buck ,bang he would be down.
Rattler that is a buck that would be on my wall ,you don't get them much better then that one here in BC ,very well done congrats on taking this trophy of mule deer.

I'm guessing he will gross out at 179 I think he is big enough to make the BC record books.

Having known Rattler for a long time ... I wouldn't expect anything less from the game he harvests.

Its a hunting season "stache", the wife HATES it. Its a ritual and gets shaved off after the season:smile:

whats a cable block?

Cable block = steep ground cutblock, logged by the use of a cable yarder. The logs are pulled to the roadside/landing by the use of a system of overhead cables, chokers/grapple, and are winched up/down the hill by the power of the machine. Very common in steep ground areas of the interior and especially on the coast.

We named him Vader because his antlers are black and massive - I couldn't think of any else at the time...

To add to what Rattler said

It got started out as "Dark Vader" a spinoff of "Darth Vader" because his headgear was very dark, big timber mulies around here tend to have dark antlers. It eventually got shortened to just "Vader"

Also it seems fitting "Vader" seems to be EVADING us.:roll:

Another deer hit the dirt today, Not Vader unfortunatly but with the season closing on the 10th and two of those days are weekends (I hate hunting weekends) I figured it was now or never.

Gotta agree with you on the score. He's definitely over 150 by a fair bit. I have a 150 and this guy has way more hardware.:mrgreen::mrgreen:
