Hello all...

As a hunter, if you were going to buy rural agricultural or recreational land, where in the province would you buy that land to optimize your hunting opportunities? And why would you buy there?

Your thoughts?

Take care

That's a tough one because there are lots of good places. I think it would depend on what you want to hunt and what species you want to be in close proximity to (not on your land). I would have to say Peace country or maybe the Kootenays.

Maybe distance would be a factor. If it is 10 hours drive away you may not enjoy it as much if were closer to you. G

hmmmmmmmmmm not so tough for me - we lease 33 acres of prime cariboo recreational land with 1 mile of lake front and the owner we lease from also has the 30 acres next to this one so there is no logging, no building just beautiful wilderness surrounded by wonderous little lakes

we also have 1 1/2 acres of cariboo wilderness that has year round dwellers as well as recreational dwellers close by - this is only a 40 minute drive from our cabin :)

our plans are to eventually move to the cariboo (100 mile surrounding area) as I want to have a hunting and fishing paradise lodge (big dream, I know but hey don't we all live for our dreams and someday have them come true)

such a beautiful province we live in :)

Definitely not the West Kootenay! This place is getting too crowded already.
I saw a bunch of turkeys along the highway just last week and it looked to me like they were heading someplace else.

Reasonable price is naturally a big factor, as is proximity to open water of some kind. NW of PG somewhere would be nice, though the Peace has its own charm too ;-)

My uncle has a little chunk of land in 8-5 ( off pike mountain) that is nice. It's close enough you can day-trip it if you want.

I'd look towards Cache Creek area for a second plot if I had the $$. Again close enough that it is easy to get to, but far enough away from home to feel like you've escaped.

East of Prince George in the rocky mountain trench. Sinclair mills, dome creek, cresent spur, longworth, or a little closer, around willow river area. Moose hunting, elk hunting, deer hunting, black and grizz hunting, goat hunting. ATVing, snowmobiling, river boating, hiking, fishing. All in one beautiful area. Moosin

I would buy land in cranbrook.
Reason being is that there is a huge ski area that has just being developed in Ferny as for the international air for being built in the Cranbrook are ,this town is being developed rapidly.
You are in a very good area for hunting and that one of the main reasons why I would buy land there.

The Peace country for hunting mainly. Babine or Francois lakefront for hunting and great fishing. Or for the best hunting in Canada..... the Yukon.
