Well Marc and Jason, you missed out on a great morning. Lots of wigeon and gadwall around. Really green birds, they kept coming in no matter what I did. Out of the blind, working the dog, even when I was picking up the decoys the birds kept trying to land in around me. I shot poorly and it took me a little longer to get all 8 birds today, but still it was only 40 min or so. Passed on lots of teal to let the bigger birds come. So quit making excuses and get out there while the getting is good.

Cheers and good shooting
Jamie

Good to see you're getting into some birds. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to find some time to hit the Bay again.

Great job, those honkers look good. I would give up a limit of ducks any day to get into some good goose shootin like that.

Cheers and good shooting

Hey Jamie, I think me and my buddy were hunting near you this morning. We heard someone else shooting just south of us but they were gone by the time we came back. Hundreds of widgeon flying around everywhere, flocks of 20-30 would land right into the decoys. Sadly we didn't take any mallards, but we hauled out 30 lbs of greenheads last night so it wasn't a bad weekend.

Yeah it was our first attempt with the skiff. It was sure nice for hauling the decoys and gear. And a five minuite row sure beats a 2 km hike.

Good job guys, hey how deep is it off the side of that Island you guys were on. I have never headed over there for fear that with the river right there it may be way to deep for the decoys. I have 12ft lines on them but I like to wade to put them out and pick up rather than use the boat. Let me know.

Good shooting

Its not really that deep on the farside of the island. The tide came up to 3.5 and I was still able to wade out 50yds plus to retrieve a bird I shot while the dog was away. You will need a boat however to cross from where we launched to the island as the channel is too deep to wade.
