Three birds less for you southern boys to shoot, and a whole bunch of smart hens

Decided I only wanted to shoot drakes today. Picked the first out of a flock of seven. Six hens, one drake! Not fair!

Hammered the next one coming from 12 o'clock low at mach 2. He took a load of #3 right in the breadbasket and touched down in a bush behind me, stone dead.

Picked up a third in a near by slough on a lucky jump shot.

The big boys are moving!

There seems to be a lot of drakes around this year, strange you had such a big flock of hens (maybe some immature drakes in there).
Out where we hunt, the sun doesn't clear t he mountains until after 9am. The birds have to be in close for a positive ID!
Thanks for posting the pics, good luck the rest of the season. It sounds like we have a lot more ducks still to come south!

I saw a lot (A TON) of drakes on a local lake on my way home. There had to be 10-15 of them, all drakes from what I could tell. I drooled a bit.
