First of all I am a little late posting this as I shot this deer Thanksgiving week-end.To let you all know originally this hunt was to focus on large mulies so it came as a suprise to get this deer.My hunting partner and I left Kelowna on the Thursday and set up camp in Kamloops around 4pm.That evening we went out for a hunt and saw quite a few deer but no shooters. At camp we treated ourselfs to some moose tenderloin from an immy I had shot earlier in the season and I had just got back from the butcher's the day of the trip:biggrin:Friday morning up before dawn, quick coffee and then off to our respective hunting areas.Only about 2 hours into shooting light and I run into this guy with a doe.One shot at 125 yards with my 300 win mag and the deer disappears.I try to hold back my excitement and wait for about 15 min before I go to find him. When I get to where I last saw him, I find some blood but nothing major.Panic sets in,even though I know I hit him well. After trying to find good sign for about 20 min with no luck I decide to go track down my partner. We return and within 10 min,I pick up the trail. The deer had doubled back from the way it had originally bolted. We found him about 100 yards away from the point of impact.Amazing how far a whitetail can go when fatally hit. This is the third animal I have taken this year using handloaded 180 Accubonds and also my first year of reloading.Back out to Kamloops for my mulie in Nov and possibly a whitetail for my daughter. We figure this deer was fairly old as his teeth were worn down and it had a real grey scarred up muzzle.Nice to find whities in an area that has always been mulie territory.Good luck to all.Cheers 'Bandit.Pics to come soon.
