I received my first Bison LEH this year and was wondering if any one has any tips for hunting Bison in 7-57B. I have been hunting for 15 years and have got many Moose and deer, but never Bison.

It would help if you put up a date. Doesn't the ministry send you an information package? I thought they want you to be successful. If it is a late draw bring a snowmobile and very warm clothes.

My hunting partner and I are heading up Nov 7th, and will be there for 10 days, I have already sent in the forms and payment for the tag and recieved the package and tag in the mail, all they include is common sense info. I'm looking for any info about the area. We are staying in the Sikanni River cabins, they said it has been very warm and we will not need snowmobiles.

I would bet that the Sikanni River Lodge will be able to send you in the right direction.

I was there last year at the same time that you are going. It was -13 with little snow. We rode quads. Check out the back end of road 156 (23km back) if you get a chance. Low hunter pressure, lots of well ends, etc for them to hold up. They refer to this area as the "Remington" I believe

I have the same draw as you and will be in the area. I might be staying at the same place as you too. From what I hear, lots of information is shared by the hunters at dinner time.

try along the sikanni river. i was white tail hunting there a couple of years ago and saw lots of bison. you can park an camp at the air strip and quad in through the gates. you can only quad on the trails though unless they have changed that.

Do what Caveman said he told me the same thing last year and it worked out well. Shoot a small one if meat is more important to you because the big old ones are tough eating very tough eating.Any more questions PM me.

Bring lots of bullets-a buddy just came back from a Bison Hunt, with 3 other guys-they all lined up and shot the damn thing one after the other (so it doesn't run back into the pack) and it still didn't die. So he walks up to it and shoots it like 4 more times in the head before it expires. Nothing like having to reload your rifle to kill something-and no-he wasn't using a .22!

cainer, Stories of the Unbelievable always raise more questions than they answer.
Bison die like anything else. When its done right.

Not sure what your talking about? We've taken three bulls out of there, all older animals and the burger was excellent, not hardly chewy at all.
