Since I didn't find any animals I could shoot and photograph, I had to settle for these nice sized tracks to take a picture of. Just click the links below to view pictures.

Some good sized tracks there. Good idea taking pictures for comparison. Nothing like tracking deer in snow. It is what makes late fall so special. Good pix --- Jel

It snowed Friday night so these tracks were made sometime early Saturday morning. I took the pics on Saturday afternoon.

I had my answered all typed out, based on the photo's. then I deleted it (me bad).
I based it on the 'heavyness' of the snow and surmized them to be a few hrs old.
Did you follow them?

Just after a deer has made his tracks in the snow its then when a person can determine weather they are a good size deer or or a smaller deer.
After a day or so when the snow melts around the track it starts getting larger making the track look double in size.

No, if they were fresher I would have. But, I also had a fresh set of moose tracks just around the corner from the mule deer tracks headed in the opposite direction. I would have followed them but they were headed into the heavy timber and I didn't think it wise to take down such a large animal and only have myself to drag it out, in fact I probally couldn't have. I was miles from nowhere and my hunting partners had already left a few hours earlier and I had no cell phone coverage. I was basically scouting at this point.
