Nice pictures....Congrats....

How about a full blown, epic story of how the moose came to be on the ground....Pictures are great, but the stories bring the whole thing full circle and a good all round post.....

You never know? it might be one of those "what Happens on a Moose hunting trip! remains where, and HOW! it happened on the Moose hunting trip!" lol

Okay okay for all of you wanting the story, here it is.

I was in region 7-14 close to sawmill lake when we took the quad into the slash in the early evening. I left my hunting partner farther down the road to hike in there and I went a bit farther up and hiked in there and sat down. I sat there for about 2 hours watching the area figuring today wasn't gonna be my day then all of a sudden I saw movement in the slash to my right. Sure enough it was a moose and I put my scope on him to see if it was a bull and sure enough I counted 2 points on the one side. He was 400 yards from me at the time so I figured I better get closer so I started towards him with the wind in my favor, I stopped about 300 yards away from him cause he made this really funny noise and I happened to notice a cow and calf, which he had just noticed also and was hopin to get lucky. So i continued movin in closer until I noticed that the cow was looking right at me so i figured better duck down and make my shot from here which was at about 200 yards. I lined him up in my scope took a breath then BOOM. The cow and calf ran, the bull dropped to his knees, got back up and started walking back to the trees wonderin what just happened to him, I was gonna take another shot but he was in the trees by that time. I was in shock, marker the spot visibly and went and got my partner which asked was that your shot, which I said well duh lol. By this time it was getting dark fast so we hiked down in to the trees and pretty much found him not even 15 yards from where I shot him and he was dead, I couldn't belive I did it in one shot. We ended up gutting him and leaving him there till the next day cause it was way to hard to try and pack him out through that slash at night. We went back the next day and sectioned him and boned out his rib cage so we could pack him out. It took 6 trips in total including the head attached to the hide. The reality didn't sink in until after we had all the meat hanging.

The wound that you see in these pics are the exit wound which did not actually exit, I found my bullet just below the skin. But I was amazed at the shot I made, one shot one kill:) Next to no damaged meat.

As for not smiling, I hate having my pic taken lol.

I named him horny cause that is was he was when he got some lead lol.

Anymore questions feel free to ask.

Thankx:)lol. Where was your draw for?

We had a group draw in 5-13B. We had the early draw and it was really, really warm... Saw close to 20 cows or cows/calves but no bulls. So it goes, it was still a good time. Nice to see some HBC'ers cashing in, though. (And not to be sexist but it's always cool to see women out there getting the job done). Good on 'ya!

I know someone who has a bigger gun but he refuses to let me shoot it....Something about ending up flat on my ass about 20yards away. All I had to say to that was "COOL!!"
