My dad is on a muley hunt up in region 3 this week sadly i had to stay home because of school:mad:. Anyway i just got off the phone with him and today while he was out hunting he found a dead bull moose that had been shot and left approx 2-3 days ago! It makes me sick to think that things like happen.

Ya, I think it pretty sad to. There was another thread very similar to this from just a few days ago. Sad to see a healthy animal go down and not retrieved.

people should clue in to what they are shooting when in doubt DON'T pull the trigger
saw same thing in reg.3 last weekend.somebody shoot 3pt moose right in the middle of road and left. very sad.

It could simply be because someone shot it and didn't make a clean kill.. moose runs away for an hour and lays down somewhere - I don't believe that all these finds are as a result of some ignorant hunter letting one off.. can it?

As much as this is completely a sign of irresponsible hunters, the 2 point rule has always been a stupid one IMHO. There has to be a way to allow hunting and be able to cut down on stories like this.
I hate to suggest it, but an LEH would stop errant shootings.

If guys were finding 2pt animals I'd agree with you, trouble is they're not, these beasts are bigger than the allowable animals for the region.

LEH if they go to the odds system!
or open season on any bull for one week season?!
Two point rule soooo stupid... I don't know what it is about moose but you have to be very careful, look long and hard and wait for another angle! Partner and I watched a bull for several minutes, looked like two but something just didn't look right! so we waited finaly he turned his head - he had paddles! and were not talking about bushes in the way, he was standing on a road about 100yrds away with two of us looking! his paddles blended into the bank behind him. If we would have drove around the corner saw him looked quick and blasted there would have been some sticker shock!
Same thing up north with the tripalm rule, lots of moose left with only two up front.
open season on any bull for one week season?!
But what kind of zoo would that create? A week of craziness. I think a generous LEH tag system spread over a month and a half would make the most sense.

The old 'shoot first and count points later' syndrome. We get the same thing in region 8 every year also.
