This "might" be the one (taken in Feb) rumoured to have been found dead on the mine. Not 100% sure though.

If he's not a record..he ranks up there pretty high in the "pretty" chart!!8)

I have seen him a pile of times..... My dad lives in Alberta and I go hunting with him there the last couple of years. This ram was always on the side of the road at the mine and has been hunted hard for years. There is an open sheep season around the mine and guys spend a lot of time hoping he steps off of mine property.

If its true hes dead thats too bad. I took pics of him this summer. If your ever in Jasper head south 25min to cadomin and youll see more 190+ rams and the biggest bull elk ever. There pretty smart there and never step off the mine.

Pics of the mine...

I also got the email saying the ram would score around 210. Found dead in the mine so Parks Canada has no say in it.

Rumours are there is a even bigger one still walking around.

Sorry no pics came with the email.

Hopefully, he's still alive. He sure would help to bring in some cash for the Alta Premier's Permit....with the hope that he'll get careless chasing ewes.

Apparently, we need a ram like that here in BC to do the same for our Premier's Permit:?.

smoke-eater,
I spend about a week every year around Cadomin too, with my brother living in Hinton. I always want to stop and drool over those rams as we go through the mine but its 'old hat' for my brother. Mutant is the way we describe them.

Does anyone know what the policy in Alberta is with regards to keeping dead wildlife?? ...and on Private Property?? Similar to BC??

If the ram died on mine property and turns out to be the new B&C record we will certainly see some controversy with regards to the ownership.

I'm pretty sure wildlife are the property of the crown.

When driving or walking, hunters often find dead wildlife that they would like to keep. In most cases it is unlawful to possess such wildlife or parts of
wildlife without first obtaining a permit. To apply for such a permit, contact a Fish and Wildlife Division office (page 16).

That's a direct quote from the Alberta regs. Does anyone think that they would give permission? I really doubt it.

Yeah it sucks, You have to get a permit in alberta for everythingyou find. You have to leave it go out apply for a permit and then return to get it. even sheds....... They dont mess around in Alberta with wildlife stuff. All that oil money gives the F&W branch deep pockets. Every time your out hunting you see CO's. (got stopped 6 times in one day hunting with my dad there) They have even flown in on prong horn hunters in helicopters to check tags..........

If you want some interesting reading get the Aberta game warden mag. Each issue has stories on catching poachers.

You don't need permits to collect sheds in Alberta, permits are needed for found dead wildlife. Our Fish and wildlife branch in Alberta do not have deep pockets, they are as poor as any wardens anywhere. You might have witnessed one of the rare occasions when they had a helicopter ride to check hunters. You do not see them everytime your out hunting, I've been hunting here 11 years and have seen wardens only on 2 occasions and I hunt much more than the average hunter. In fact our wardens have had at times to suspend patrols and only respond when called as their budget does not have the funds to allow them fuel to patrol, many of them have put fuel in their trucks at their own expense and every once in a while some kind customer at a gas station will pay to fill their truck.

oscar said it right when it comes to collecting the sheds and he right about the fish cops too they don't have deep pockets and you dont see them all that often. I dont know if this paticular ram is dead but there are lots in his size there. As for finding dead wildlife your not allowed to keep anything off cadomin. I live an hour away from there. They are smart sheep they know where the boundry is and very rarley leave it. Sure is nice to see them though.

Ya its always funny how its property of the crown when there is montementary gain ..........I say if you find it buy a tag and its yours no difference then hunting it .............thats my 25 cents worth
