Hello,

My girlfriend and I are new to hunting and would like to go camping this weekend (Sat/Sun) somewhere around the lower mainland to hunt for small game (rabbit/birds/etc). Any suggestions on where we could go? I have a car so access has to be reasonable (we are willing to hike as needed). I can bring a .22 or shotgun.

thanks,
Ashton

I don't think such a place exists this long week-end in region 2!

You will have a tough time finding an area free of ying yangs even with a 4x4.
That said Harrison west will be an easy enough road to take the car. But keep you options open.

Are you able to head up past Lytton towards Lillooet? PM me if you can go that far.

you can try skagit valley which is MU 2-2. access is no problem for 2wd but finding a spot may be an issue seeing as it's the long weekend.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I was looking into Sloquet, but it sounds pretty popular. (Maybe I could bring a bow instead)

Huntergirl, we could probably head up that way, though we are just wanting to go overnight. Last time we went up there (Sept long) we got snowed on :)

Head up Squamish way. You can go up the Squamish valley and take many, many different FSR that cars can drive along, or behind the Chief is a good spot for grouse. Drive your car along the FSR and hike up any trail leading of the FSR. Good luck, hope you manage to find a spot that isn't over crowded!

Thanks everyone. We've picked a spot and will let you know how it goes....

Say, anyone have any good game bird recipes?
