After Willyq put down his nice bull on Monday and his archery buck on Tuesday, our group hit a dry spell. For the next couple of days nobody could find elk. On Friday my dad and I went for one last morning hunt while Willyq decided to stay back and start breaking down camp.
We drove out to one of our favorite spots and started bumping elk right away. First up was a small imature 5 point. We brought him into 40 yrds, but being a bit too small for what we were looking for (and since Willyq had already taken a fantastic bull) we kept moving along. At 8am we got onto 2 bulls bugling. After 15 minutes of us going to them, one of the bulls finaly turned and came at us. I moved 50 yards ahead of my dad (who was doing the calling) and then moved a few more yards downwind. The bull came straight at me untill he stopped at about 40 yrds and turned broadside. A quick pair of shots out the 7mm rem mag and the bull was ours! What a trip! Willyq has promised to post pics....
