Are they just a gimick like the "cough tube", or do the suckers actually work. When still hunting in early season it would be nice if the dang bugs would just...well bugger off.

Of course the various sprays work to varying degrees. But hey if the smell of roasting crisanthinum flowers keeps em away....may be worth a try.

So any one tried one??

I have one of the patio models and man do they ever work. Best thing I have ever seen for the skeeters. I would recommend it all the way.

Overall customer rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars on 186 reviews on the Cabelas website; it can't be that bad of a product. I'd never heard of these things before now. Mosquito season is pretty much over but I'm going to consider picking one of these things up before I go on my next hunting trip...price is reasonable and I freakin hate mosquitos.

I went up into NWT with one and the mosquitos were nuts. I put one outside of my trailer door in about 10 minutes they were all gone. Works on black flies also. I have 2, the patio one, and the personal one.

Never heard of them 'til now...sounds like a good idea. Do they smell, could you where one while hunting?

Oh ya, how quickly do the little plates run out? Should I get refill packs when I get my portable unit?

I can't believe I didn't buy it earlier. Last week at Sunshine Coast fishing I got bites all over me...

4 hours per scent pad, butane lasts 12 hours

Wal-mart has them for $22 and that includes 1 butane and 3 scent pads. Seen the same set-up at Crappy Tire, except in "GI Joe" camo and they wanted $39 for it.

Used mine camping this past summer and they just plain work. They do give off a slight odor though and it ain't the best stuff to breathe in, but compared to the 95% deet Muskol I used to rub on, I figure it can't be that bad.
