Went with my dad for his first (my second) sturgeon fishing trip. Spent a gorgeous day on the Fraser, and we hooked about a dozen sturgeon, landed abotu 8 of them. Everythign from a relaly small one about 12" long, to a 7 footer that my dad was playing when it jumped right next to the boat and threw the line...
First 2 fish of the day, and it was a father/son double header!!

Good times with my dad, we used to sail/fish all over coastal BC when I was a kid, and I dont' get to do muchof it with him anymore, so this was pretty special.
Dad was worn out by the end of the day....But he's 76 years old, so I guess he's allowed to be..

Clarke,
what a great day for you and your Dad
y'all look like it was amazing and very special indeed - it was so nice to see you out there enjoying the time you have with your Dad because I can see how special that time is by the smiles on your faces
76 - wow, yes he does deserve to be tired - I know how hard reeling them fish are so I can relate to the tiredness even the smaller dinos give ya a good work out
I love the father/son double header pic - I can just hear the hootin as you both fight the lines
thank you so much for showing another side to Gatehouse :)
you and your Dad "rock"

GOODY ON YOU!
I never had the opprotunity of takin' pop's out on a coastal trip before his passing. Either my *stupid* work schedule got in the way or his later heath issues did.
It's something that I still hope to go back and change......... C'grats!

One of the sturgeon we had caught was a teeny 14" or so fish.
Nice to see, as I guess it means they are reproducing. Last year, I went on an industry sponsored guided trip, and when we caught a fish, the guide would use an electronic device to check for a "tag" and if one was present, we woudl recored it. If not, we woudl put one in.
I bet that little guy didnt' have a tag in him, woudl have been cool to tag him and watch him as he grew.

Good to see that you got out with your Dad. I am lucky as I get both my Mom and Dad out on a regular basis.... nice to see their smiles as they fight big or small fish....

Actually A fellow named Troy Ganzefield has been part of a juvenile tangle net fishery for tagging small sturgeon he has been working that area next to where you are..... he has tagged a couple hundred small fish in that area.....you might be suprised who is swimming with a little list.....

Nice to see you two had a good time. The sturgeon should be good for another month or two yet...
They slow down when the water gets colder. I have caught tons of them in October between hunting trips...
The roof and heater in my boat come in real handy then...
