G' Day Lads,

I went out last night with a few mates fishing for Barra in a local impoundment.

I had an absolute blinder, easily the best session I have ever had fishing.

I got three fish into the boat within an hour or so and all 3 were over the ton ( 1 metre)

First one went 110cm

Second fish went 115cm

And as we were leaving I went for one more cast on a quiet patch and BOOM 122cm of the biggest Barra I have ever seen in the flesh. I still can't get the stupid grin off my face.

Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Google "BARRAMUNDI"

That last fish was way over 30kgs and even she came clear of the water 3 times. They fight hard, I was using 60# braid and my drag was set pretty tight and all 3 took line of me, it was a real blast.

Unreal...that's awesome - good work! Can you keep one or are they not very tasty?

Big7,

From the saltwater they are the best eating fish around, from the sweetwater they can be iffy, We could not get one of these guys to come good so we took him, soaked in a little saltwater first and it was pretty good.

Holy Cow, now that is what I call a fish. Congratulations! I heard that the Barramundi are fierce fighters and not only make a fisherman sweat buckets but also give him blisters and break the rods. These fish are in behavior, so I am told, like a largemouth bass.
Is that true?

I built a fish feeder for a barramundi farm a few years ago, was cool to see swarms of these guys in the tanks, each one was only about 2ft but still big for the tanks that they were in.
