Well I didn't have much luck with the Elk, but, I did manage to bring home a small Whitey buck for the freezer from reg.4. This was my first solo animal as well, great day all around. The shot was about 50 yards, a pass through lung shot with a 140gr Barnes TSX, he ran about 15 feet. Very warm afternoon, about 20 degrees at the time of the pic. He had a lot of fat on him for a little guy, should be good eats!!

Thanks all, I think I'm gonna go back up into the same area next week to give the Elk another try.

Beauty tender cuts there. Probably be one of your best tasting deer. Congrats.

Congrats you have taken the edge off the season, you can relax while you pick your next hunt. He does look like a chunky monkey :grin:.
