Does anyone around here purposefully (sp) hunt wolves? I'm looking for info on were to find these guys... Reg 3 or 5 would be best but have no idea where to start... Any tips on how to hunt them would be greatly appreciated.

Leg hold traps....I know a guide who used to cull the wolves in these parts. I think he is too busy to do it now, but I will ask him how he did it if I remember when I see him this weekend.

That would be great! I'm sure he'd have some valuable info. A trip to the island could be just as doable as a 5 hr trip to reg 5... never concidered that!

In the absence of a BAIT station ! wolf will be the toughest animal you ever hunted! late in winter there is some chance of calling but its a long and tedious if not miserable endeavor, they are the ULTIMATE Preditor and they are not dumb! as for bait, 3 or 4 wolves will eat an entire deer or sheep in minutes ( in most cases only after dark)and then they are gone, they do not return for tid bits during the day time like coyoties or fox, so be prepared to work and endure!!

There are lots of wolves here, hide out on the beach in the Suquash (35 38' 34"N/127 15' 5"W) or the Cluxewe.

So how many do you kill every year? 2 or 3 ?? bag limit is 3 per year, for every less wolf theres 10 or 15 more deer and elk that dont get eaten by wolves! I take every wolf I am allowed each year! even if it costs me a day of hunting elk or deer!

I have never killed a wolf...never had a gun when I saw one, it has always been at work - out of deer season.

The bag limit is only 3 in some parts of the province, some areas have no bag limits and/or no closed season!

Leghold traps.....
Just shoot me.

Guilty of competing!

Sentence: Leghold trap and a slow death.

Shoot em, OK, if you must, but save the leghold BS.

Between my partner and I last year we culled over ten with bullets and snares and leg holds.

You must have your trappers permit and permision on privates land or registered trapline to trap/snare any critter.

Leg hold traps dont mean slow death. You shoot it when you return to your trap. Of course there are some that do die in the trap but even a killing trap doesnt always do what it's purpose is.

Regulations on leg holds have been changed. Off set jaws and padded jaws prevent the animal from losing feeling in it's foot therefore it wont chew it off.

I'm sure there are enough animals that suffer from a poorly placed bullet...we dont want to focus on that of course.
