I was out scouting around mount cheam/lady peak area and my buddy and I saw 4 goats. Im no goat guru but I think it was one billy and 3 nanny's. Anyway I was suprised, but its good to know we still got em even though it can be pretty pressured with hikers

There's some in the hills above Slolicum lake east of Harrison. I've only seen the white dots in the bino's but they're there. Actually you'd be surprised just how many there are in Reg2

I'm delighted to hear that they are back on Cheam area again.
For a long time we thought they may have disapeared.

I have seen goats off of the north end of Alouette Lake and also
Pitt Lake.

The old hunting books talk about hunting goats at the turn of the century
from steamships up Indian Arm. I haven't seen any from my boat there
but the country looks right.

I have seen them from a branch off the Indian Arm road, called Mesliloette.
12km up from the water,no chance of seeing them from a boat.

About 5 years ago I talked to a friend that was dirtbiking on a logging road further up the Chilliwack River valley and he said they could see goats up on the mountain above them with binoculars. The guy he was with saw them frequently at this location while up there dirtbiking.

I heard from an MOE guy that quite a few years ago there was an LEH goat season in the Cheam area. The ministry let out 10 tags expecting a harvest of 1 or 2 animals. All 10 hunters were successful and nearly wiped the herd out completely. The herd is very slowly recovering.

I told my brother about this since he does a lot of rock climbing and he said he saw a few goats 4 peaks over from there in the same range a few years back (can't remember the name of the mountain). He said the one was showing off by jumping from it's front legs to it's back legs while balancing on a rock on the side of the cliff and then starting kicking rock at them down the rock. He said they were all quite curious.

Here are a few goats I stumbled upon in the Cheam Range. The last season up there was in the early 80's.....access is so much easier than many other Region 2 goats (ie. Elaho/Squamish) it's good they shut it down when they did.

Those goats have been around Lady/Cheam for years.

In 94 i seen one on a rock out cropping from the road just before the parking lot(@ the top of Cheam).About 10 years ago, going up with a friend,i said man it smells like wet dog up here, and he said must be a bear, while i picked up white fir off the ground and said, well it must have had horns then !!!!!!!
