Just wondering what everyones first hunt is going to be. Mine will be for elk with a bow cant wait. I have a spot i have been watching since july seeing lots of sign in the area and have seen two bulls that are at least 6x6. Seen lots of cows and rag horns to. Cant wait sept. 1 i will be walking in 4km at 4:30am just to get a chance at a nice bull. Good luck to all this season.

Well this year is weird for me so far. It should have been stone sheep however it looks like it will be:
Goat this weekend (maybe..sigh)
Moose next week as bow season opens in Region 6
Elk in Alberta Sept 8
Moose bow only early Oct.
Stone sheep Oct 7 to 15
Then moose and mulies until work takes over. If I can hunt until bow only in early Dec I will!

Best of luck to all! :)

Well we are having our third child on Sept 6 (don't ask why then...sore spot) so my first hunt...

Hunting for my balls in my ol' ladies purse. Then if I bag a pair I will be off for a late season sheep and elk hunt.

My hunting season will open with a deer bow hunt, then a grouse hunt and by the time that is on video it is time to get ready for the rutting season with the rifle.
But that is old news, I am already planning the spring turkey hunting season.Lol.

Just returned home from an unsuccessful sheep hunt.
Received a early draw for the Ashnola;ordered topo maps, researched the area, talked to M.O.E.,and received great information and pictures from some of the members of this site. I left last weekend full of confidence and excitement, set up camp high in the alpine, hiked 19 km. over 2 days without seeing any sheep.Talked to 3 other hunters with the draw that had the same results.I ran into the guide that was not having success, but offered up some good advice.I happened upon some sheep on day 3 and eventually seen about 30,but no legal rams.
I gained alot of respect for the sheep and goat hunters on this site, and a few names come to mind imediately,as this was a physically demanding hunt in extreme rain, wind and temperatures anywhere from 0c-19c.
I high centered my truck in a washout, determined to get where I wanted camp, and started to lose the confidence by the end of day 2,but still came home with some fine memories and photos.
Next hunt is mule deer,4 point season on opening day,Sept 10.
