Not sure what the appropriate forum is for this, but I expect that the people who knew him would frequent here the most.

I just heard that Cam Lancaster was killed in a plane crash yesterday. He went down in thick timber with his Super Cub. Apparently he was still breathing when they found him, but expired shortly thereafter. Leaves behind a wife and 4 kids.

Terrible loss.

Its always some consolation to me when someone goes doing what they love the most. Cam was way too young though....and I really feel terrible for his wife and kids.

He had a real close call with the helicopter crash on his Marco Polo hunt a few years ago too. Lots of risk in his chosen occupation/pastime and I guess it catches up to you eventually.

BCRams...maybe you can confirm if one of his guides was with him? I heard there was, and that he survived, but I don't know who or if he was hurt badly.

That just sucks. I was just a the funeral for a local pilot yesterday and now yet another. Deepest sympathy to those touched by him.

I read that there had been a plane crash but this is the first I heard who it is.

I knew Cam and the Lancasters. It's hard to imagine the pain they are in right now. I felt sick to my stomach just hearing the news. Cam was a great role model, dad and husband. On top of it all a one of a kind outdoorsman. He will be truley missed by all. It's another sad day.

We all have to all remember the way he was. When you start to forget, replay one of his movies. Hunting was his passion.

All the best to his family.

I hope they spread some of his ashes across his hunting territory. I am sure it is where he would most enjoy his rest

Spoke with Cam and his wife only once at a fundraiser, they conversed as if you were a long lost friend. Good folk. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I met Cam in Smithers many years ago.

The branches do not fall from the tree - the Lancasters are all good people.

May God be with you all!

Did Cam post on here? If so then what was his handle? Must be horrible loosing a spouse in the prime of life... perhaps those that knew him could put a big basket of flowers together and have them delivered to the family form HBC.

I hear that Cam's family was up there with him, spending some time together before school starts, and Cam was scouting out a lake to take his kids fishing when the plane went down.

I can't imagine the pain his whole family is going through right now. Its a terribly sad story. :(

I've had three different phone calls and three different stories. It's all speculation right now.

Makes me feel sick when I think about it. There have been far too many hunters and pilots lost to the mountains and lakes of the North.

Absolutely terrible news. We were very saddend by this news, and feel for his young family. When i was up there last fall they seemed like a very tight group and he did have his whole family up there as did his brothers.
