I have been hunting archery for about 10 years and have taken 5 deer, I noticed on two of the deer my mechanical broadhead never opened up fully. I ran into a guy who tests archery equipment for a living at a cabelas store in Winnipeg last week, named ray from Vancouver and he told me to switch it up to a fixed broadhead named sonic. Just started this thread to see if that has happened to anyone before, or if everyone on here use's fixed broadheads already. I know this season I will be switching because its only a matter of time before one of these broadheads dont do there job.(if anyone knows who ray would be and knows his company please pass on his info to me thanks)
i have been shooting mechanical broadheads for the past 6-8 years or so, taken at least 12 deer , 1 bear and 1 elk with them and quite a few coyotes to, never had one fail, not even close. After the shot i have had quite a few pass throughs and went to pick up my arrow and found that the broadhead was closed, but they have always opened, gone through, and snapped shut on the exit. I have always had a huge triangular hole on impact and on exit. I will not change from Spitfire XP's.

the sonic is a pretty weak head. Wicked sharp, but easily bent. the aluminum ferrule kinda sucks too.
Go for some slick tricks or the montec or striker by G5.
